Sport Comes2Town
at University of Ulster 24 July 2010
The Jordanstown Campus Sports Centre was buzzing on Saturday the 24th July with the second in the series of the Sport Comes2Town initiative.
Following on from the success of the pilot event hosted by the Meadows Complex in Portadown on 26th June the organisers and sporting partners hosted another successful event in the University Campus.
Many eager young sportsmen and women participated in 20 of the sporting sessions on offer and UKCA was again delighted to be a partner host. Local cheerleaders exhibited 6 exhibition routines back in June and the quality and standard of the cheer athletes delivery attracted much attention, so much so, that our Governing Body has formed a strong working relationship with both C.I.P and the University as an established sporting partner enabling UKCA to lead the way in its delivery of cheerleading to N.Ireland.
The well travelled UKCA education stand was in full display with very eager cheerleaders volunteering their time to share pom dance arm-lines, cheers and chants and basic stunts to excited participants visiting the campus. Thank you to all the cheerleaders who turned out on the day.
Participation and delivery of Cheerleading Education in N.Ireland has certainly encouraged important sporting links and we are proud to have formed a new alliance with inline hockey -Ireland. Our qulaity of service and delivery is second to none.
Quote of the day came from a very happy young lady "What a great day, The sport of Smiles , how true, thank you for the opportunity" Thank you Claire

LONDON 2012 Open Weekend:23 July 2010
In partnership with N.Ireland DCAL and Belfast City Council, United Kingdom Cheerleading Association led taster workshops for over 1000 children in the greater Belfast and surrounding areas. The sessions were led by Karen Graham , UKCA, N.Ireland Representative and aided by two very eager and capable senior cheerleaders Chloe Gibson & Fiona Shannon. Fiona & Chloe were a part of the Riada Rockets N.I. Senior Squad who placed 3rd at the Manchester National Championships in May 2010, and were very enthusiastic to volunteer their time and skills and knowledge to excited youngsters in Belfast. True Cheer Spirit Girls!
The sporting initiative was directed by Mr. Ryan Haire, Partnership Officer (Sport Belfast) and brought experienced coaching teams and Tutors from 15 Governing Bodies to the Ozone Leisure Complex to enable children to participate in numerous new sports. UKCA was delighted to be a part of this team.
The day was open to the public and aimed at providing tasters of Olympic and non-Olympic Sports in the countdown to London 2012.
Various celebrities were spotted on the day and signed many autographs- Can you spot them in the photograph? Click on the link below!!
Boyzone Celeb and Local Cheerleaders
Local Cheerleaders reaped the rewards of Volunteering to share their cheerleading skills by meeting Boyzone celebrity in person. Fiona & Chloe , senior members of Riada Rockets Squad gave up a day of their holidays to encourage children in the greater Belfast areas to get involved in sport. The girls aided N.I. Rep by demonstrating cheers, chants, stunts and pom dance skills at the Ozone Leisure Complex on Friday 23rd July 2010.
Take a Look on the Education Gallery for all the event FUN and action photographs from Friday 23rd July.
The weekend 'Come and Try a new sport' theme will continue at the University of Ulster, Jordanstown Campus on 24th July where UKCA Rep and event officials will be present with the well travelled UKCA stand and information desk. WATCH OUT for further Photos of the actions and NEWS.
